MANILA -- The wildly popular K-pop girl group 2NE1, which includes former ABS-CBN teen star Sandara Park, is heading to the Philippines in the second quarter of 2014 to stage a one-night concert, its talent firm announced Thursday.
Twenty-nine-year-old Park shared the announcement via Twitter, in a post seen by almost 1.3 million followers. A promotional image posted by YG Entertainment, which handles the four-member group, shows the tour dates of "For the First Time for Korean Girl Group."
The world tour, 2NE1's second since it debuted in 2009, will kick off on January 3 with a two-night performance at Seoul's Olympic Park SK Handball Stadium.
The group's Philippine stop, as detailed on the poster, is scheduled on May 17 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
In another Twitter post, Park noted that 2NE1's concert in the Philippines will coincide with the group's fifth anniversary. "Sobrang special ang araw na 'yan dahil 5th anniversary ng 2NE1 ang May 17! Mag-celebrate tayo!"
2NE1 is also slated to bring its "For the First Time" show to Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Japan, China, Malaysia and Indonesia.
The group, which also includes Lee Chae-rin, Gong Minji, and Park Bom, is best known for the hits "I Don't Care" and "I Am The Best." 2NE1's popular tunes also include "Go Away" and "Lonely."
The group first performed in the Philippines in 2011.
