The unconventional title of CL’s first solo single up to the outfits she’s wearing on the music video garnered much attention from netizens. Due to this, theories that her solo single is illuminati started to form. It is because the music video is filled with arts which symbolizes illuminati.
On the jacket, there’s a goat and butterfly which are known to be figures that represents Satan, and also the Joan of Arc outfit she was wearing was said to be a symbol of being anti-Christ. Her nails design ’1991′ is also claimed to be related to illuminati.
On her recent interview where CL first heard about this issue, she was extremely surprised and said, “Really? There are rumors like that?” CL doesn’t know about the existence of illuminati, and reality is, she is not into surfing on the internet.
CL explained, “On the artwork and music video, I wanted to put symbols that has their own meanings for me. The 1991 design on my nails, that’s my year of birth and I was born on the year of the goat that’s why I wanted to have the goat there. And the queen bee, I really like queen bee. “If bees disappear, the world will come to an end”, because of their importance and that meaning, i really like bees. They give life to flowers too. I personally requested the designer to include the sheep and the bee there. And the Joan of Arc outfit at the end, I was inspired to wear that. Joan of Arc said “I was born for this”, that’s the reason why I chose that outfit to represent women.”
“I am surprised because I heard negative comments. It would be nice if you’ll let me know again next time to clear out the misunderstanding”, she added.
CL also said, “My solo single is 2NE1′s start. Last year for our mini-album, Park Bom unnie started it with ‘Dont Cry’ and this time, i started it with my solo single. I’m happy to have the opportunity to let people hear my single.”
